James Gardner

James Gardner accepted Christ as a young child in Thailand where his parents were missionaries. But being raised in a Christian home did not make him immune to the teaching of evolution. When Jim entered public school upon returning from the mission field and encountered evolution in his science classes, he just received it as it was taught. He failed to see the relevance of the creation/evolution controversy for many years until personal tragedies struck both his family and his wife’s family. As they began to question the meaning of life, they became aware Ken Ham’s book, The Lie: Evolution. After reading The Lie, Jim realized that evolution and the Bible could not be mixed. He and his wife joined several ICR tours and spent over 15 years studying the scientific evidence supporting creation.

At age 33 he started an electronics business that God greatly blessed. He sold that business and retired at the age of 43 to enter full-time ministry, founding Canopy Ministries as a means to share what he learned through the years. A pilot, Jim flies a small aircraft and lectures across the country and around the world, both for his own ministry and for Answers in Genesis. Extensive world travels to foreign mission fields include Europe, Asia, Australia, the Pacific, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Fifteen trips for field work, three for aerial survey flying small aircraft, covering the Grand Circle and Grand Canyon in the last 17 years have provided outstanding training on the subject of Grand Canyon and the global Flood. Additional field trips to the Grand Circle, Yellowstone, Yosemite and Glacier National Parks, Chichen-Itza, Machu Picchu, Cuzco, and Angkor Wat have provided firsthand experience in geology and archaeology. Recent trips to Rome, Ephesus, and Israel (especially Masada) have provided much additional first hand experience of how historical science and the Bible agree.

Jim has extensively taught on the subject of creation vs. evolution in the U.S. and internationally in churches, schools, and colleges since 1993. Married to Candy for over 30 years, they live in Mountain City, Tennessee, and have a son and four grandchildren.

Alan White, Ph.D.

Alan White earned his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Tennessee and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Harvard University in 1981. He worked for 30 years at Eastman Chemical Company and reached the rank of Research Fellow. Alan spent his career at Eastman working in Research and Development in the fields of organic and polymer chemistry. Among his achievements are the discovery of a commercial biodegradable polymer and the improvement of many commercial polymer processes, including the new Integrex™ technology for producing the plastic from which soft drink and water bottles are made. Alan has been granted 45 U.S. patents and is an author on 18 scientific publications.

Alan has been a follower of Christ since age 13. During his lifetime, his two great interests have been the study of science and the Bible. Over the last 30 years, Alan has become convinced modern scientific discoveries are in accord with the Bible, despite many claims to the contrary. He retired in 2011 in order to spend more time in research, writing and speaking on science and the Bible. Recently, Alan audited about 65 hours of courses at Southern Seminary. Alan has taught in many venues in the US. He has been on five lecture tours to Peru, where he has spoken in many churches and universities. He has also spoken in Canada, Chile, Bolivia, El Salvador, Italy and St. Lucia. Alan is a board member and speaker for Canopy Ministries, a Research Associate with Logos Research Associates, and an adjunct speaker for Answers In Genesis.

Alan and Eileen reside in Johnson City, Tennessee and have been married for over 40 years. They have three children and six grandchildren.

James Denton, M.D.

James Denton graduated from Abingdon High School in 1972 and then earned his B.A. in chemistry with a minor in biology from Virginia Tech. He earned his M.D. from the University of Virginia and then a surgical degree from the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 1985. He also earned a degree in vascular surgery from the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Denton is semi-retired but still works part time with the University of Virginia practicing and teaching surgery. Much respected as a surgeon, Dr. Denton has also served as president of the Virginia Surgical Society. Hobbies include farming, painting art and flying.

The incredible complexity of the human body has convinced Dr. Denton that evolution of such a wonderful design is impossible. He often teaches with Canopy Ministries and has a particular burden for teaching the truth about origins.

Jim has been married to Kenyon Marie for over 42 years and they have three adult children and 14 grandchildren. They live in Abingdon, Virginia.

Steve Falling, Ph.D.

Steve Falling earned his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of California, Davis and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 1979 from the University of California, Berkeley. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company, Kingsport, Tennessee, after 31 years of research, development and production of complex organic chemicals. He has 49 U.S. patents, numerous foreign patents and several scientific publications.

Steve is interested in the fossil record and how it contradicts Darwinian evolution. As an organic chemist, he sees the impossibility of molecules-to-man evolution. He especially loves nature photography and outdoor activities where he can enjoy God’s creation. His emphasis is on pointing out nature’s evidence of the Creator and showing the flaws of evolutionary explanations. Steve is a member of the Creation Research Society,

Steve and Julie have been married for 48 years and have two adult children and four grandchildren. They reside in Kingsport, Tennessee. Steve is a board member of Canopy Ministries and he maintains the CanopyMinistries.org website.
